The Location

WinterHaven Resort is easily found by traveling on I94 to Alexandria, and then heading north on Highway 29.  It is only 10 miles west of Parkers Prairie, where guests will find groceries, restaurants, health care, and a large park with a pool and splash pad.

The vacation rental/owner’s home, built in 1982, is a beautiful open concept brick home with a lower level walk-out, and an expansive deck.  It has 3,392 sq ft of living space.  It was remodeled in 2013 and has central A/C, forced air heat, propane fuel, a vaulted ceiling, large kitchen/dining area, large rec/office area, and a wood burning fireplace.   It has 1 full and two ¾ baths.  The main floor primary suite includes a jetted tub, and walks out to the deck.  The sunset views across the lake are gorgeous.

The Cabins, Lake and Grounds

There are four 2  bedroom seasonal cabins that are fully furnished and include window A/C units and large decks and fire pits for watching the gorgeous night sky, away from the city lights.  

Block Lake is quiet and lightly developed.  It is 290 acres and 23 ft deep.  Walleye, northern, and panfish are plentiful, as the DNR stocks this lake.  It can also be used for recreation, and there is a boat launch only ½ mile from the resort.  The resort rents canoes, kayaks and paddle boats.  Nearby marine businesses will deliver pontoon rentals to the landing.

The resort property includes an expansive lawn for playing games, a playground, and there is an indoor common area for guests to use. 

The Opportunities

The current owners have used the resort for multiple purposes over the years.  They often invite family to use the four cabins, and they also have a following of long time guests.  At times they have lived in a cabin and rented out the vacation home.  If you are looking for a retirement home on the lake, but need just a little something to keep you busy, this resort is just the right size for one or two people to operate for the summer.  Another scenario for this resort is to add additional cabins and amenities.
